The Harris Federation is the country’s most successful large multi-academy trust, educating 43,000 students aged 4-19 across 54 academies in London and Essex. Many of our students face some form of disadvantage: over one-third receive free school meals, and another third are just outside these criteria.

Our mission is to provide an exceptional education to every young person. Attending a Harris Academy makes a real and tangible difference in a young person’s life:

• In 2024, over 50 students were accepted to Oxbridge.
• A Harris student is twice as likely to attend a Russell Group university compared to their peers.
• Disadvantaged students at Harris outperform the national disadvantaged cohort in their GCSEs and even exceed the national average (based on Progress 8 outcomes).

At Harris, we believe that a child’s life chances should not be defined by their family background. We are committed to offering opportunities and enhancing life chances for the students in our care.

We spend significantly more on education than the funding we receive from the government. Our Founder, Lord Harris, established our schools to be funded on the same basis as all other state schools. Our efficiencies save approximately £5 million per year, all of which is reinvested into student education. However, to provide the level of education we believe in for all children, we rely on donor support to offer opportunities that many of our students would not otherwise receive.

Donor and partner support allows us to:

• Increase our mental health provision.
• Support students in attending residential experiences, often their first time away from home.
• Enable students to build their cultural capital by facilitating trips to museums, galleries, and other destinations they might not otherwise visit.
• Provide work experience, insightful talks, and powerful indications that professional sectors are keen to welcome students like ours.
• Offer essential care for disadvantaged students, including food banks, hygiene products, school uniforms, warm coats, and winter shoes.
