Harris Students Experience the London Stock Exchange

It's crucial for students to see themselves represented in the sectors and companies they aspire to work in.

Sixth Form students from Harris Academy Beckenham experienced a special insight day at the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG), organised by Shannon, a former student of Harris Academy Purley. Set against the stunning backdrop of St. Paul’s Cathedral, the students were given a unique opportunity to learn about the financial sector and be inspired by relatable role models.

The day started with a money-can't-buy guided tour of the London Stock Exchange, complete with Harris branding throughout the beautiful office building, leaving our students feeling welcomed and valued within such an incredible space.

Following the tour, the students participated in a speed-networking session on the rooftop terrace- an inspiring setting for some fantastic conversations.

The day concluded with a wonderful panel discussion with senior leaders from LSEG. They shared their early career experiences and candidly discussed mistakes they'd made along the way, highlighting for our students that pathways to success are often not linear, nor do they need to be. Students left feeling motivated and empowered.

These experiences are vital in shaping students' future career choices. By visiting real workplaces and meeting professionals, students gain insights that go beyond classroom learning. Harris Futures is committed to providing these valuable opportunities.

If your company is interested in hosting a similar event, we’d love to hear from you. These experiences can significantly influence students’ lives by broadening their career perspectives.
