GCSE Results 2023
Congratulations to our 5,000 Harris Federation students on an excellent set of GCSE results!
With GCSE grades returning to the standardised marking we last saw pre-pandemic, we are very pleased to report that the attainment of Harris Federation students is above that of 2019. The percentage of entries across the Harris Federation which achieved at least a grade 4 is 75.5% - 5.5 percentage points more than in 2019. The percentage of entries achieving a grade 5 or above is 59.4% - 5.7 percentage points higher than in 2019. We have also seen an improvement in the percentage of students achieving the top grades; 25.3% of entries achieved a grade 7 or higher – 4 percentage points higher than in 2019.
Although there were far fewer top grades nationally, our students scored 1,509 grade 9s. An impressive achievement!
Across the Federation, we have a significantly higher number of students being entered for the demanding EBACC subjects. 72% of Harris students were entered for these subjects – compared to 39% nationally in 2019 – with 39% achieving a grade 4 or above.
This is only the second cohort of GCSE exams to take place since the pandemic and, like all students across the country, the early years of their secondary education were severely disrupted. The fact that our students’ attainment is above the 2019 score is testament to their endurance and hard work – not to forget the fantastic staff across the Federation who worked tirelessly to support them.
Well done to all our students! We are delighted that so many of them are continuing their studies at our Sixth Forms within the Federation which achieved very strong A Level results this summer.
