National performance tables 2018: Harris Federation the top performing large multi-academy trust
The Department for Education has released the latest national performance tables. These show how individual schools and multi-academy trusts performed in 2018.
What do the results tell us?
- The Harris Federation is the top-performing large MAT for Progress 8
With an overall Progress 8 score of +0.49, the Harris Federation is the top-performing large multi-academy trust (MAT) and is ranked fourth overall.
The next highest performing large MAT had a Progress 8 score of +0.29. - The Harris Federation is the top-performing large MAT for EBacc
24% of our pupils achieved the Ebacc at grade 5 or above. The equivalent at the next highest performing large MAT was 19%.
- The Harris Federation is the top-performing large MAT for disadvantaged pupils
The Progress 8 score for disadvantaged pupils at Harris was +0.33, as compared to a negative score nationally for disadvantaged pupils of -0.44.
We are the only large MAT where disadvantaged pupils are making positive progress. The equivalent at the next highest performing large MAT was -0.02.
Congratulations are due to Harris Academy Battersea and Harris Girls' Academy Bromley, both of which were the top-performing non-selective schools in their boroughs with fantastic Progress 8 scores of +1.26 and +0.7 respectively. Harris Academy Battersea’s Progress 8 was the 14th highest of all 6,000+ secondary schools in England.
Harris Garrard Academy Bexley came second of all non-selective schools in its borough, with a Progress 8 score of +0.37. Two years ago as the Business Academy Bexley, it had a negative score of -0.55.
Three of our academies are in the top five of all 36 secondary schools in Southwark for Progress 8. These are Harris Academy Bermondsey, Harris Girls' Academy East Dulwich and Harris Boys' Academy East Dulwich. With a Progress 8 score of +0.15, congratulations are also due to Harris Academy Peckham.
Harris Academy Morden and Harris Academy Merton were also among the top five of all schools in the London Borough of Merton, with Progress 8 scores of +0.69 and +0.47 respectively.
Schools have also been ranked against a group of 55 schools with similar pupil characteristics. Nine Harris academies are ranked within the top-five schools in their group and fifteen within the top-ten. Harris Academy Battersea and Harris Girls’ Academy East Dulwich are both ranked first within their group of 55.
