Welcoming Stormzy to Harris Academy Tottenham
Pupils and staff at Harris Academy Tottenham were thrilled, honoured and excited to welcome Michael Omari (the rapper Stormzy) to open their new sports hall.
The £6 million new sports hall is a first-class facility for pupils at the academy and the wider community in Haringey to enjoy.
Michael is a former student of Harris Academy South Norwood, where Harris Academy Tottenham Principal, Lisa Kattenhorn, was his Head of Faculty.
She says:
“Children at our academy have waited for five years for the sports hall to be built and we wanted to mark its opening with a celebration to remember. We are so pleased that our pupils now have the amazing facility they deserve.
“Michael has spoken a lot about his challenging behaviour at school, but he also had a remarkable creativity, intelligence and sense of purpose. In addition to his contribution to music, it fills me with pride as one of his former teachers that Michael has supported education including through his scholarship programme for black students at Cambridge.
“Pupils and staff at Harris Academy Tottenham loved having Michael at today’s celebration and I am hugely grateful to him for making the time to visit.”
