The students who made it to Oxbridge against the odds
‘The Harris academies pull out all the stops to get disadvantaged students into top universities’.
In October, six of our inspirational alumni met with The Times to talk about their journeys from Harris academies to Oxford and Cambridge.
Two of the students attended the Harris Westminster Sixth Form, which opened in 2014 and prioritises for places disadvantaged pupils who show high academic potential.
The other four attended Harris academies Chafford Hundred, Crystal Palace, Falconwood and Peckham. All four are alumni of the highly successful Harris Experience programme, which is geared towards giving our most able secondary pupils the academic and cultural ‘extras’ they need to achieve their potential.
The interview is a moving account of the extraordinary journeys these pupils have been on to get to where they are now and we hope it will be an inspiration to others.
