Y12 Harris Scholars Advanced - Lucy Cavendish, Cambridge

We took around 60 Harris Scholars Advanced students to Lucy Cavendish College in Cambridge on Thursday the 20th of March. After they were given a talk about university applications and the importance of wider learning by the college outreach team, four current students gave the students a tour of their lovely college while answering questions about their journey to getting to Cambridge. We were blessed with a hot and sunny day, which allowed the students to eat their lunch in the college gardens before they were split into three subject-specific groups: biomedicine, physics, and linguistics. These groups were then given a lecture by post-graduates at the university, who expertly explained their research in a digestible manner. We were particularly impressed by the students who were not shy from raising their hands and asking/answering questions.

The students' behaviour was impeccable, and we received many emails after the trip from students who were keen to improve their applications to gain a better chance of attending such institutions.
